Teacher games. Linking Blood Donors and Recipients Using Neo/BLOOD
Lab Investigation. Investigate blood transfusions and blood banking. Accurate blood typing is essential for safe transfusions and blood banking. A transfusion conducted with an incompatible blood type could cause blood cells to clump together, potentially leading to death. Your children will be challenged with a realistic medical emergency scenario. They'll be asked to classify blood types according to the presence or absence of certain antigens attached to the surface of red blood cells. In the process, they'll gain a first-hand insight into the importance of blood typing in transfusions. They'll also learn to identify which individuals are "universal donors" and which are "universal recipients".
