The ten sections covered by the Skills Selector:

Wicket Keeping - Practices involving the skills of wicket keeping. Agility, footwork, co-ordination, taking catches standing up and standing back, reflexes and taking edges are covered. Individual and group practices are used.

Ground Fielding - Basic ground fielding techniques are developed in this section. Long barrier, two handed pick ups, one-handed pick-ups, retrieving, diving, throwing at the stumps and backing-up drills are included.

Catching - Beginning with basic catching technique, practices involving individuals and groups in grids are used to cover flat catches, high catches, low catches and slip catches. Hand-eye co-ordination and reflexes are fully tested in this section.

Throwing - Practices developing the techniques involved in throwing are used in this section. Individuals and groups use grids to practice overarm and underarm throwing with the extensive use of different targets mostly in competitive and pressurised situations.

Running - Practices are included to develop sprinting, conditioning and running between the wickets. Fielding skills such as throwing, catching, retrieving, one handed pick-ups and two handed pick-ups are used in many practices. Players develop decision making and calling skills in this section.

Striking the Ball - Grids are used to introduce the skill of striking the ball. Targets are extensively used and many of the practices are competitive.

Developing Shots - The orthodox shots used in batting are covered in a series of individual and group practices. The forward/backward defensive, cover drive, off drive, on drive, lofted drive, pull shot, hook shot, leg glance, sweep shot, back foot forcing, square cut and late cut are all covered. The ability to manipulate the ball into gaps off front and back foot are included.

General Bowling - Practices are included to introduce general bowling techniques. Run up, bound, coil and follow through techniques are covered with the extensive use of targets.

Fast and Spin Bowling - Specific types of bowling are practised in individual and group situations. The skills of leg and off spin are introduced, proper line and length for pace and spin bowling are practised and targets are used to develop accuracy in all types of bowling.

Fun and Games - Conditioned games and activities that are designed to develop the skills of Cricket with the emphasis on fun. Some activities derive from other sports such as hockey, netball and tennis.

The ten sections covered by the Skills Selector:

Passing: - Practices cover chest, bounce, overhead, javelin and flip passes. Fakes, movement and speed passing are included, together with practices for running the clock. Passing in offence is an important element: Practices for full court and in and around the key are included, together with modified games.

Dribbling: - Practices involve shuttles, pressure dribbling and control in a variety of situations. Dribbling with left and right hand is reinforced, together with practices for driving at the basket. Practices for dribbling in offence are include as are games and activities for the application of essential dribbling skills.

Rebounding: - Practices for defence and offence are included, together with drills to develop tipping, checking and block out skills. Activities to develop rebounding from free throws are illustrated, as well as team drills and other competitive practices.

Shooting: - Practices cover set, jump, hook and lay-up shots. Shooting with left and right hand is reinforced, together with practices for driving at the basket. Shooting in the context of screens, fakes, pivots and cuts are included. Practices are developed through unopposed and opposed situations.

Ball handling : - Practices for ball control, including passing and receiving, defending the ball, and close control are included. Control in the context of screens, picks and posts are included. Practices are developed through unopposed and opposed situations.

Transition: - Practices for transition include defence to offence, offence to defence, using the lanes, fast breaks and drives. Also included are drills and activities for developing attack, and breaking following a steal.

Individual Skills : - A variety of practices include one on one, pivots and turns, screens, drives, cuts and fades, and guarding. Additionally practices are combined to reinforce the key skills of footwork and handling and include dribbling, passing and receiving and shooting; progression is encouraged through unopposed and opposed situations.

Offensive Movement : - A range of offensive movement practices are covered, including give and go, screens, pivots, cuts and posts. Practices, which are both opposed and unopposed, also include movement against both one-on-one and zone defence.

Defence: - Practices cover individual defence, over-guarding, defending screens, and defending numbers down. Practices for defending one-on-one and in different zone formations are included. Additionally, practices for defending with a team-mates (e.g. in twos or threes), and for recovering when an attack breaks down, are also included.

Fun and Games : - Practices, fun activities and modified or conditioned games are included which reinforce the key skills covered elsewhere on the CD-ROM. The activities in this section can be adapted to suit all age and ability levels.
