See Green Renewable Energy Teaching Resources In Action

Monday, December 13th, 2010

Green energy education science games are now available from Keen2learn and specialist educational learning resources manufacturer, Heliocentris of Germany.  The range focuses on hydrogen fuel cell energy storage and power systems. These are now available as teaching resources to UK primary and secondary schools, and universities. They can be see in operation at the forthcoming Association of Science Education (ASE) exhibition and conference and BETT educational show – both in January 2011.

The hydrogen fuel cell teaching resources are now available on line or on account through www.keen2learn.co.uk. Supplied with comprehensive worksheets, experiments and  information packs, these practical front of class demonstration panels generate and store hydrogen to be converted to electrical power through the fuel cells. Ideal for practical science games, STEM project work, experimentation and development. Fuel cells present an enlightened view of the future in renewable energy. Entertain, enthral, empower children and students with the huge opportunity hydrogen can play in energy storage and operational systems.

The hydrogen fuel cell model car and front of class demonstration panels for secondary schools science and university degrees projects in renewable energy can be seen in operation at the Association of Science Education (ASE) conference and  exhibition at Reading University from the 6th to 8th January 2011. You will find us on stand DS 68. ( note that the conference runs from 5th – 8th January the exhibition runs fro 6th -8th January)

Hydrogen Fuel Cell Car Supports School STEM Projects

Thursday, February 25th, 2010

The future of the UK lies significantly  in developing  its engineering ability. Not an easy task as interest in engineering and science in school and university has fallen significantly over the years. The STEM focus is designed to whet the appetite in children and there are a number of fantastic projects on the go. Keen2learn in particular are  pleased to be associated with hydrogen fuel cell  renewal energy teaching resources and the huge possibilities of how these will help reduce climate change.

Keen2learn’s link with educational games and renewable energy  has resulted in their recent  appointment as the UK distributor for the fantastic hydrogen fuel cell teaching resources from Heliocentris of Germany. Designed and built with schools, colleges and universities in mind the range of resources are supplied with comprehensive resources, worksheets and lesson plans. With over 30 experiments,  these front of class  learning resources  and model hydrogen fuel cell car allow hands on experience for children.  Alistair Owens MD at keen2learn explained  “A real benefit of the range lies in the equipment design and documentation which  allow non science teachers to also get involved in renewable energy and hydrogen fuel cells.”

The interest in renewable energy products from keen2learn is growing rapidly in schools. The combined focus in climate change from the Copenhagen summit and STEM cross curricular projects have elevated hydrogen fuel cells, solar and wind energy as  lead applications to interest children in science and engineering.  The Heliocentris equipment developed over the last 10 years is ideal to fire their enthusiasm in an energy source for the future.

Science Games In Renewable Energy Get Power Station Application

Thursday, December 10th, 2009

Heliocentris the manufactures  of educational Model car fuel cells for  keen2learn is to supply an oil company from Bahrain with an autonomous power supply solution.

The Berlin-based Heliocentris also designs and manufactures larger scale  innovative energy storage solutions has acquires two more orders for autonomous fuel cell-based power supply solutions. As specialists in clean energy  for the supply of autonomous power supply solutions they have won orders for  Bahrain Petroleum in  Bahrain and a university from Germany.

The solutions are hybrid energy storage systems consisting of batteries, fuel cells, electrolysers and adapted power electronics that store the locally generated solar or wind power. For the oil company project, Heliocentris will also deliver the photovoltaic and wind solution. It is good to see that a fuel cell clean energy systems has an application with a forward thinking  oil company. The projects have a total volume of approx. €300,000.

Heliocentris Fuel Cells AG is a specialist for clean energy storage solutions based on a smart combination of batteries, fuel cells and energy management. Areas of application are mobile and stationary applications that require longer ranges than current batteries can provide. Examples are electric vehicles, onboard and emergency power supplies as well as electricity supply for off-grid applications such as monitoring stations or energy self-sufficient houses.  Heliocentris has been developing and marketing fuel cell-based energy solutions for more than 10 years now. Heliocentris initially targeted the training and lab markets as typical pioneer markets, where it has successfully positioned itself as one of the worldwide market leaders. Since 2006, Heliocentris has been entering selected industrial markets with considerable growth potential. With customers in over 60 countries and a broad distribution and partner network, Heliocentris is globally well positioned. Heliocentris Fuel Cells AG is listed at the Frankfurter Wertpapierbörse (Entry Standard) and employs in total 50 staff with its head office in Berlin and a subsidiary in Vancouver, Canada.
