Keen2learn Reviews Wooden Educational Toys

Product News / May 18, 2016

We take a close look at the Stacking Tractor from Bigjigs. As expected from this quality supplier the wooden toy is made from plywood and wooden components that are painted and varnished in child friendly paints and tested to safety standard ASTM F963 EN71.

Ideal for children aged 12 + months the design allows the toy to have two functions. Firstly as a assembly puzzle requiring the child to place the parts in the correct order to make up the tractor, then it becomes a push along toy.

The wooden parts are robust and have a feel and weight to them something the lightweight plastic versions can never match. The tractor will provide hours of fun and, like all wooden toys of this quality, is certain to kept and handed on to fellow offspring or friends.

The parts of the tractor are slid onto one of the two wooden pegs on the base. These are ‘spring loaded’ using some elastic, which allows the pegs to move to help young fingers gain the dexterity to align the holes in the tractor cab parts onto the pegs.

Each of the four parts has a printed image of the tractor so the child can see which is the right way round for the part. They will also see that one part will only fit in one position in order to clear the back wheel.

Ideal to build a child’s problem solving skills and dexterity, this simple and well made wooden educational toys will bring a lot of fun into the play environment for 12+ months children.
